How do I join or start a YCR project?

First you must sign up with YCR through our Sign Up Page.

In our initial welcome email, there will be a survey that you can complete which will indicate to us which opportunities you are interested in as well as your level of commitment.

From there we can get you started!

I signed up for YCR, now what?

One of the easiest ways to show support is to follow us on social media!

We have plenty of online speaker series going on so make sure you follow our newsletters, youtube and social media to stay involved!

Does YCR look to partner with Indigenous peoples?

We commit to not only engaging respectfully with Indigenous Peoples, but also actively seeking out their input and participation. YCR recognizes that Indigenous Peoples are partners in resource and environmental matters and we look to develop those relationships within YCR.
In pursuit of our goals, we recognize the rights and title of Indigenous Peoples, guided by the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People (2007) and the Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (2015).

Will you fund or endorse my project/research/club?

If it aligns with YCR’s values and we determine that we can collaborate effectively with you, absolutely! There are a number of ways we are working to support clubs and research in the future such as funding, research symposiums and even scholarships!

How do I join or start a YCR Regional Chapter?

We currently have YCR Regional Chapters set up at these universities:

  • University of Alberta
  • Dalhousie University
  • Mount Royal University
  • University of Waterloo
  • University of Western Ontario
  • Queens University

How can I do a Blog or Opinion Article for YCR?

If you are interested in doing a Blog Post or Op-ed for us, please complete our Blog/Op-Ed Proposal Form. Once that is completed, we can discuss more about implementing your research and writing on our Blog Page.

How can I improve my resume through YCR?

YCR has plenty of volunteer as well as part-time contract positions that can pay off on a resume. If you have a particular set of skills you want to use in a workplace environment, or even if you just want some real-world experience to prove you can contribute meaningfully to a cause. One of the great parts about YCR is we have new speakers coming in each week who are always willing to meet young Canadians interested in resources. YCR also has plenty of networking events currently being planned to take advantage of our wide network of executives and professionals. What can I do as a Champion to contribute to YCR?

There are multiple ways a YCR champion can contribute to our mission. Such as:

  • Donations
  • Publicly supporting us on social media (Following our accounts and sharing posts and videos)
  • Offering to speak on one of our future panels or seminars
  • Networking with our YCR members at events
  • Co-sponsoring YCR events
  • Offering resources (meeting space, access to experts and conferences)
  • Sharing Job Opportunities on our website. Help get our passionate students and young professionals an opportunity in your industry!
Can I support specific programs within YCR?

Yes! If you would like to support a specific YCR Regional Chapter, give life to a certain initiative, or put money towards a specific YCR event, contact [email protected] to arrange a plan for collaboration!
